Fellow Congregants:

It's June and our new fiscal year begins. We had our congregational meeting, where the budget was presented and approved. The new slate of officers were voted in with almost no changes.

Several positions remain vacant and no one stepped up to fill them.

Rabbi Shaffin's contract ends this month and although the option to continue for an additional year was extended, he did not execute this option. Sadly his tenure will end on June 30th. Many of us have developed relationships with him, and we hope that they can continue as he starts the next phase of his career.

We will have services this Friday "Simcha Shabbat" as well as services on Shabbat morning and additionally services Sunday and Monday, as we celebrate Shavuot. We hope to see many of you. Just a reminder that we have Yiskor on Monday.

Please take the time to read through this issue of the Centerpost. Many hours are put in by Betty and others to compile all that is SBJC. Next time you see her, take a minute to thank her for all she does. On that note, most jobs at SBJC are thankless and all of us that work tirelessly to keep our shul running do not do it for recognition. What we do ask is for a few more of our congregants to step up and lend a hand.

Wishing you and your families a very happy and healthy summer.

Sincerely,
Jeff and Evelyn
Co-Presidents
